Dance Festival

Aspen's annual end of school dance festival was very fun!  Motown was the theme. David's group was the yellow shirts, he is on the far side so can't be seen in the shot.  They did a great job.  They danced to "Rockin' Robin."  Jacob's group wore bright colors and sunglasses.  They were cute.  Thankfully he was on the front row so I could see him!  They danced to "Dancin' in the Street." Zander had fun and was dancing with his hands (if you can't tell).  Lilly's group also wore bright colors.  She is on the right in a hot pink shirt and teal pants.  It was fun to watch them.  I can't remember what she danced to and neither can she, but it had "Rocket" in it. ... And as tradition has it, the teachers dance last.  We love Miss Andrus and her wig and outfit were far out!  She looked great as did all the teachers.  Another fun year wrapping up at Aspen!

Happy Birthday Lilly!

Today is Lilly's birthday!  She requested pancakes with whip cream for breakfast and she got it!  We opened presents after school (her mom came over for a few minutes) and she got a piece of Magelby's delicious chocolate cake! (We all got a taste of it). We put in 8 candles and for some reason she held up 9 fingers.  Ha ha!  One extra gift she got for her birthday...it snowed!  Big huge flakes that didn't stick, but it was pretty coming down!  Happy 8th birthday Miss Lilly!

Cinderella...

David's chorus group put on a Cinderella musical.  It was very cute and they all did a great job!  Of course, we think David was the star of the show!  He even danced.  He was "Messenger #3" and had a line to say.  We enjoyed his performance very much!

Mother's day and a class play...

David's third grade class put on two little plays.  Basically they acted out a story.  It was very cute.  He did a great job on his part and it was fun to go and watch them.  I got two special deliveries for Mother's day...a fruit bouquet from Ashley (to me and Amanda)...and a box of chocolate covered strawberries from Clif and Lindsay.  I particularly enjoyed the chocolate heart!  I do appreciate their thoughtfulness.  Dave and Nate made us dinner and Amanda picked me out a cute new outfit which I wore to church that very day!  We were well taken care of and felt special.  Thanks family!

Cute kids...

 Just a few of the latest "cuteness" running around our house...Zander keeps saying, "Hola como estas."  And then I would say, "Muy Bien gracias."  Now he says the whole thing, over and over every day.  "Hola como estas muy bien gracias."  It is so funny. And when Amanda brought home her Cinco de Mayo things from school, Zander found them and loves to wear the hat and shake the maracas. Lilly is still showing her artistic talent.  She drew the picture of Jesus and then one day I was making a bird nest out of play dough for Zander and she decided to make a bird nest.  Pretty sure you can tell which one is hers and which one is mine!  Jacob, in the meantime, painted a self portrait at school.  Pretty good likeness!  And of course we never forget to practice the piano...love these cute kids!  

Donna goes home...

And just like that it is all over.  6 months of planning and training, and boom.  Women's conference is done and Donna thinks she needs to go home.  Ha!  After walking all over the tulip festival, and two days on our feet at BYU, we had to finish our time together with a little hike to Battlecreek Falls!  Dave went with us and it was a lovely walk!  We even got a little sprinkled on!  Before taking Donna to the airport, we stopped at Magleby's and ate a light dinner.  A VERY GOOD light dinner.  And the most amazing chocolate cake!  I can't believe I didn't take a picture of it!  I will be eating there again.  It was very scrumptious!!  Thank you Donna for coming all this way to help me and be on my team.  I love you my kindred spirit friend!!

BYU Women's Conference 2017

The day we have been training for and working towards finally arrived!  Randa came Wednesday night so she and Donna were both here, and Kelly arrived early Thursday morning so we could get to campus on time.  Donna and Randa got to go to classes on Thursday.  Kelly and I met our Thursday team at the Varsity Theater, we donned our aprons and had a prayer meeting.  We were ready for the day!  As soon as the morning session was over in the Marriott Center, the sisters began arriving for the first class.  What a busy day!  Many smiling faces and it was an honor to be "Angels in Aprons" for the day.  We were more comfortable once we got the first class under out belt...things went pretty smoothly and I am grateful for my assistant Kelly and the wonderful team members that served! It was fun to see a few familiar faces come through the doors and one was a lady from Mesa whom I hadn't seen in 20 years!  Sheryth Schad!  We had a hard time getting sisters to move over in the seats once they sat down.  Even a plea from the room supervisor over the podium didn't get them to move.  I was surprised at that. But otherwise, no real problems and things went pretty smoothly.  The day went fast!  After the last class, Kelly and I met Donna and Randa in the Marriott Center for the closing session.  It was very good but I was very tired!  Our Service Leader, Jana was seated on the stand, she is the blond on the left on the megatron.  She was a great leader and it was a pleasure working with her.  After that session, the 4 of us went to Brick Oven for dinner.  There were a LOT of women there!  The first thing our waiter asked us was, "How are you enjoying Women's Conference?" He automatically knew.  We enjoyed our meal and then headed for home to put our feet up!  We didn't stay for the concert or I would never be able to get up and be there on time the next morning.

 Friday was a repeat for Kelly and I.  We got on the shuttle from the football field parking lot to go to the Marriott Center and there was a cute lady in front of us, I realized the packet she was holding was the one I had sent to her!  It was Genoveva who would be on our team for the day but we had never met in person!  What are the odds?  ha ha.  Then another cute little shuttle driver took us in a van over to the Wilkinson (just as they had the day before).  It was a great service they provided!  This time Donna and Randa served on the team.  Our Friday team was just as wonderful and we LOVED our room supervisor Suzy.  She was awesome!  We only had one confusing time and that was when we had to actually use our overflow (and we even had to turn away people after that!)  On Thursday when we tried to use our overflow, we were getting audio from two different venues.  It was such a mix up that the few sisters in there finally left, but we did get it fixed!  Thankfully the smart young BYU kids that work there came and fixed it for us!  We felt bad turning people away on Friday but we were maxed with people.  It was another great day and the closing session was Elder Stevenson.  He was so good!  What a wonderful spirit we felt there and I loved serving!  I was kind of sad to turn my apron in!  We ate dinner at Chubby's this time and when we got home we put our feet up and watched the Scarlet Pimpernel.  Fun and enriching two days!  I look forward to next year!  This is a tradition I hope to continue.  BYU Women's conference every year!
