Snips and snails...

After going with the cub scouts to Hal and Yvette Anderson's "farm" last week...We asked if we could bring the boys over to see all the animals on family night.  They just live practically behind us and they were of course very obliging and we brought our neighbors with us too...so fun!  The puppies were the hit of the evening...though the 3 day old baby horse and the hungry goats were a close second.  (They got to feed the goats so that was fun).  The adults were taken with the beautiful white peacocks and the parrots.  The emu's got very little attention ha ha.  The rabbits were fun to see also.  I somehow didn't get any pictures of  those.  Thank you Andersons for letting us invade!

That's our back yard over there!
The white peacocks were beautiful!  the turquoise color around the neck of the male was stunning in the setting sun!  The regular peacocks were hanging around too, but not as pretty!  The boys had fun finding feathers!  David, our neighbor Zach, and Jacob.

Another day maker...

I just LOVE when I get a text or an email with a picture of my missionary and a quick note.  Always from someone I don't know, and I sure appreciate their thoughtfulness!  Got this one from a Sister Bowers who had just fed them dinner.  Thank you Sister Bowers!  He looks happy and like he's eating well.  Made my day!

Makayela's baptism...

One of the blessings I love about living in Utah, is being able to attend family events!  Last night was Makayela's baptism and we were so happy we could be there for it!  She looked beautiful!  I don't know how we didn't get a picture of her in her lovely white dress! The one at the table, she has an apron on to protect the dress from dinner...but anyway, everything went really well.  Her grandpa baptized her.  I think it might have been his first baptism to perform since he was baptized himself a little over a year ago! He did great.  Eric confirmed her.  Kai gave a talk on baptism and did a cute job.  I played the piano and Amanda led the music.  They had a nice dinner afterwards and it was just so special to be there!  It was also Eric's birthday!  And Randa's was last Sunday so we will go out this weekend to celebrate those.  They have been so busy and then didn't want to take away from Makayela's special day.  So more family events on the horizon!  Congratulations Makayela!  You looked beautiful - pure and clean.

Our week...

Interesting week we have had...on Tuesday we had a crazy snow storm!  Woke up to it...everything was white and the snow was still coming down hard!  It melted by lunch time.  So strange.  I am not sure I will ever adjust to this strange weather.  The night before the snow storm, the wind blew so hard, I thought there was a tornado coming!  I sat in my room listening to it and wondering what damage was happening!  Thankfully it only knocked over our garbage cans...but boy was it a loud and blustery wind!  Dave left for Clovis on Sunday, but the day before that he had caught the snake we had spotted coming out from under the driveway. He wrangled it and threw it over the back fence into the pasture.  Well, this week we have spotted THREE more!  Two are very small and the other one is about the size of the one he wrangled.  They aren't that big, but boy oh boy do I have a phobia of snakes!  I even know they are the "harmless" variety but they still make me crazy!  They come out when the sun shines.  Got a fun text with pictures from the couple that Elder McKinney is living in their basement.  His outgoing companion (Elder Niupalau) who is going home and his new companion (Elder Knowlton)!  We don't have to wait until next week to find out!  It was great!  David (without any suggestion from anyone) sat down and read a book to Jacob!  It was so sweet!  Jacob was looking at the book and David sat right down with him and read it.  Kodak moment to be sure!  And last but not least, our chicks are getting so BIG.  They are outgrowing their box.  Dave needs to get home soon and get started on that coop!  I have been reading the Elm Creek Quilt novels and really enjoying them.  Have read 3 this week! I have always wanted to learn to quilt, but now I want to even more after reading these novels.  It helps that Dave is out of town and I can stay up late reading.  But I will be happy to get him back tomorrow night!

Lava, lava...

We tried some science experiments this week.  The boys loved making little volcanoes in the baking soda with their droppers of colored vinegar.  They could do that all day long...I need to buy more boxes of baking soda!  We also made lava lamps out of water bottles (no lights though) with oil, water and food coloring.  Drop in some pieces of Alka Seltzer and the colored drops float up and down like a lava lamp.  Fun stuff!  Thanks Pinterest!  We have played with the lava lamps more than once since I bought a whole box of Alka Seltzer!
