This has been a busy and productive week...the first week of "Spring" ~ even though it has rained all week long. My little purple flowers are all in bloom and I love coming in to my house and having them greet me each day...last Saturday I put on "Phantom of the Opera" while I did my ironing. It made the job go quicker and was much more pleasant. That music has been going through my mind a lot this week...such beautiful music! Saturday night was our quad-stake youth dance (hosted by Sanger ~ great job!)...it keeps me out late but it is always a fun time with the youth...one of these days I AM going to get Joel to go!!!
Sunday our son-in-law was put in as second counselor in the bishopric in his ward. My thoughts were in Georgia alot that day. Wishing we could be there in person to show our support. He will do a great job and Amanda will be a good supporter to him even though she will be sitting alone with the kids during church. Many people will help ~ that is the beautiful thing about ward families. Love you Dale, Amanda and boys!
Sunday morning we had a ward conference with Fresno 7th ward. It was a wonderful conference. We had a great time meeting with their Young Men and Young Women's presidencies, and then with their youth. That night was our Girl's Camp Kick-Off Fireside. Our theme is "Happily Ever After" and the camp presidency (Tammy, Carla, Peggy and Claudia - love you gals!) put on a beautiful event. Aided by all the "princess" YCL's (youth camp leaders). We saw clips from Pres. Uchtdorf's talk on "Your Happily Ever After" from last year's Young Women General Broadcast...what a great reminder of who we are and what is in store for us if we make the right choices. There was a cute skit by the "princesses" and this beautifully decorated table of delicious cupcakes...It was a great fireside and we are ready for camp! I am so excited that I can go this year! I already put the vacation days on the calendar at work...
Monday was the Academic Awards Ceremony...Joel got outstanding achievement in English, Science and Math. He got recognition and certificate and we got dessert...love having smart kids! Great job Joel! I tried to get a picture of him walking across the stage, but it turned out too dark, so we took this picture after it was over and he had picked up his actual certificate...
I was on call for jury duty this week. Starting Sunday night I had to call each night to see if I needed to report the next day...every night it said, call again tomorrow after 5 p.m. I was hoping all week that I would not have to drive to downtown Fresno in the stormy weather and sit all day in the jury assembly room. I was so backed up at work with so much to do, I just didn't like the thoughts of spending my time down there. So far so good. As of Wednesday, I still did not have to go in. YAY! Wednesday afternoon my sweet friend Donna came over to watch some more of Anne of Green Gables with me. Love that movie, one of my favorites, and I especially enjoy watching it with a friend! Every Wednesday we will watch a segment, and when it is done, we will begin the Avonlea Series...I'm really lovin' Wednesdays!! Anyone want to join us?
Wednesday night I attended Fresno 7th ward's New Beginnings - "Blossom in Belief." It was a wonderful evening welcoming the new Beehives coming into the Young Women program this year. They made sugar cookies in the shapes of flowers (on skewers) and did them in the young women value colors. They were in pots in the middle of the tables...very cute!
When I called in Wednesday night for jury duty, it said to check back in the morning after 11:30. Still on hold...I wish they'd just say never mind ~ don't come! Oh well...
Did you know March is National Craft Month? Do these tiles count as a craft project? I made 80 of them for our ward Relief Society Birthday party...
I called for jury duty after 11:30 on Thursday and they said, never mind! You are released from service. woo hoo! That was a long week of waiting to hear that! I am grateful that I did not have to drive down there in this crazy weather...Thursday night was the Relief Society dinner. It was a very fun evening...dinner was great and then we made 30 baby blankets for the humanitarian services...in a little over an hour...many hands make light work! It was great! I love my ward sisters!! And I am thankful for our Relief Society Presidency who work so hard for our ward and who do so many things for us.
On Friday Dave and I went to the temple with our friends Dan and Ann. It was great to be there...I don't go often enough. And we love spending time with our friends too. Afterwards we went to Marie Callendar's for a little dessert...yum!
Saturday morning I went to work because I was still so far behind. I worked 5 hours, and boy, do I wish 5 hours would pass as quickly on a regular work day as they did on Saturday! I could not believe how fast that clock was ticking! I turned on my pandora music and just worked away...it's amazing how much you can get done when there are no interruptions from phones, secretaries needing things, and co-workers distractions. I got my head above water and hopefully can stay on top for awhile now. Saturday night we played games out at the Brunsviks. It was a fun evening of playing and of course eating...
So there is the diary of my week. They aren't usually as busy as this one, but I don't think they are going to slow down for awhile. We have a quad-stake Priest/Laurel Prom coming up, girls camp, firesides, ward conferences, youth committee meetings, the monthly dances and so on and so on. Best to keep busy I'm sure. I do find time for chick flicks and good books...and I do some occasional laundry and house keeping...Life is good. I count my blessings and thank my Heavenly Father for family, friends, and the opportunities to serve.
