Handcart Days 5K...

One of the reasons Clif was here was to do a 5K in Bountiful.  He got Amanda to do it with him.  We had to be up there by 6:30!  That was an early morning for all of us!  We dropped them off to get their packets and took a picture, then we went and sat by Eric's fireworks tent since they would be running right past it.  He gave the kids some poppers to play with while we killed time.  Pretty soon some runners started coming so we went out to the corner and watched and waited.  Clif came along and got some cheering and high fives from us, and a little bit later, Amanda came.  What a fun thing for her kids to cheer for her and high five her.  Then we loaded in the van and drove back to the finish line and got there just in time to get Clif coming through and a few minutes later, Amanda.  Whew!  Clif finished 5th in his age group of males.  Pretty good!  Amanda came in 19th in her age group of females.  I was impressed!  We let the kids play at the little park while Clif and Amanda got their free breakfast.  We decided we need some of those spinning chairs in our yard!  The kids loved those!  Then we went back to Eric's tent and bought a few pioneer day fireworks.  Randa and Kai had arrived by that time so we got to see them and visit for a little bit.  It was a fun morning!  For the spectators anyway!  The runners looked hot and tired!  They got to go home and rest for awhile before our afternoon pioneer day adventure.  Next post...

Brick Oven Birthday Dinner!

Uncle Clif got in late last night (or was it early, early this morning?)...thankfully Amanda drove to the airport to get him! Jacob had a certificate for his birthday dinner so we went to Brick Oven!  David had a certificate for there also, for reading.  We LOVE Brick Oven!  Jacob got his lollipop and ice cream and our cute waitress along with a couple of other people sang to him.  It was very fun!  Fun to have Clif with us too!  Jacob loved his pasta!  We love everything at Brick Oven!  And of course, the mint brownie to finish up the meal isn't bad either!  Can't believe Jacob is about to turn 5...

Splash pad!

Our friends told us about this cute splash pad not too far from our house.  It was fun to meet friends there and play in the water for a little bit!  Zander loved it!  So did David and Jacob!  A fun refreshing afternoon on a hot day!  I'm sure we will be going again!

Timp Training...

Our first real hike of the season, in prep for our Timp Hike this fall!  We went to Timp and started the trail.  We hiked for about 2 hours just to check out the trail and see how it will be.  We had 3 kids with us (Nate and Lilly joined us) so it was kind of slow going.  The trail was paved on parts which was nice.  We came across two waterfalls which were fun to stop and cool off in.  Some parts of the trail were almost jungle looking there was so much green growth covering the trail!  There were some pretty flowers and of course I always enjoy hiking with my wonderful companion Dave! I look forward to coming back and trying some more of the trail.  I AM going to do this!! We took about an hour to get back down so three hours of hiking for the day.  Here are a "few" pictures of the beautiful day on Mt. Timp!

Joseph...

We went to another outdoor musical at the Scera theater.  Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.  It was a very fun production!  We picked up my cousin Jeanine again and drove through Kneaders for our dinner.  We ate while we waited for the production to start.  This time Amanda and the boys were with us!  We all enjoyed it very much!  Saw Randa's parents not too far from us and chatted with them before it started.  The guy who played Joseph had a very beautiful voice!  Another fun production! The boys stayed awake and paid attention through the whole thing. They are quite the little cultured men.  I love that! We all enjoyed it very much.  I'm so glad we went!

Morning Walks...

July 6th we woke up with a new plan...early morning walks!  If we get up at 6 we can walk for an hour before Dave has to get ready for work.  It has gone pretty well and I am amazed that I can get up and do it!  That first uphill part is a little difficult, but after that it straightens out and we can handle it better.  This is our Mt. Timp training!  Gotta get ready for it!  The scenery is beautiful in the morning as the sun is rising.  We walk right past the beautiful Timp temple, and we can see a huge panorama of Utah lake as we are walking back home.  We also see the fields being watered, hay being bailed and stacked the next day...a huge pumpkin patch that we can't wait to see all the ORANGE when they mature...and sometimes we see deer...the momma and her two babies...you can only see one baby in the picture.  The pictures don't do any of it justice, but trust me when I say, it is all beautiful!  I'm glad to have Dave as my walking partner.  Not sure what we will do when the weather turns cold!  Sometimes, such as when Dave was sick and we don't get up early, I have others wonderful people who go to the trail and walk/run/scooter with me.
