Junior Rodeo...

As if we hadn't done enough on Friday, with the museum and the temple open house, when we got home it was just time for our ward activity!  It was at the Rodeo grounds here in Lindon and dinner was provided. Homemade rootbeer too...yum!  Our sweet high councilman made the rootbeer.  Brother Tuckett is an amazing man - we love him!  The entertainment was the primary kids doing rodeo activities.  Oh my goodness!  Only in Utah do you let your kids ride sheep, chase pigs and chickens and ride calves, all for entertainment for the ward! ha ha.  It was quite a fun event.  The primary presidency was our "Royalty" and took a turn around the arena on horses.  Then little kids rode them sheep!  Mutton bustin'. It was crazy!  David said "no way" to that event!  He signed up for the greased pig and catching chickens.  In between events they had a candy hunt in the sawdust (David was in the lead running for that!), they had wagon rides with the big pretty horses that pull the wagon (a family in the ward has those), and little cart rides.  The chickens were really tame and didn't even run when the kids came.  It was too late and we were too tired to stay for the calf rides but everything else was just fun to watch and we couldn't believe this was a ward activity!  Bishop and Brother Anderson and Brother Cox were the animal handlers (with a few helpers) and boy did they look tired!  Rounding up the sheep was as fun to watch as the actual events!  David did help haul a pig in, and believe me, when they talk about pigs squealing, they really do!  Oh my goodness...it was painful to watch and listen too!  Poor little pigs...they survived it though.  They squealed as loud when bishop was greasing them as they did when the kids were dragging them to the finish line!  Crazy stuff.  In the pictures, just watch for the two little boys in the bright turquoise shirts.  Jacob wasn't very interested in catching the pig, he ran/walked out there and then turned around and came back.  He enjoyed the sawdust candy and the wagon rides though!  What a fun way to end the day. It was a very busy day!!
