Our Priest/Laurel prom adventures began on Friday evening, April 8th. Some of our wonderful youth committee came to help us put up the false ceiling...with Brother Burrow's help. (He's the tall young man behind the broom). He hung the wires and the lights, the youth got to toss the bolts of tulle up and over the wires. This turned out to be more of a challenge than they thought! Then he used his "broom" to even the layers out and make them smooth and pretty...this takes a LONG TIME. He's a very patient man.

Rachel didn't quite make it...and the bolt came down upon her head...have no fear, she is fine...good thing tulle is so lightweight! I think this is my favorite picture...
Then we had to put batteries in the cute little flicker candles that sit on these beautiful chandelier centerpieces...there were other hanging chandeliers which I somehow forgot to get a picture of...oh well, trust me, they were beautiful. I'm sure many of the youth took pictures in front of them.
Our fantastic stake young men presidency designed our boarding ramp...lighted red carpet and all...the sign says welcome aboard...in Italian of course. This looked wonderful at night when it was all lit up...

They walked through our "Lido" deck and entered the main ballroom which looked like this...

We had two chocolate fountains (one white chocolate, one milk chocolate) and everything imagineable to dip in them....yum! I sampled almost all of it...totally delish! Chocolate heaven. The youth had already eaten a lovely italian dinner with dessert at the West Stake center (thank you West Stake!!) but it didn't stop them from filling up on all our sweets...
Here Connie is demonstrating how to properly use the chocolate fountain...believe me, she and I practiced it a LOT...as did most of the youth...
It was a Bella Notte for sure...and we are grateful for all the people who made it turn out so wonderful, and for all the help we had setting up, tearing down, chaperoning, loaning us decorating items etc...THANK YOU ALL! Our photographer had a gondola complete with gondolier and a beatiful Venice backdrop! It was amazing. To see the pictures just go here.
Thank you also to Pres. Matsunaga for being our ship's captain...find him in the pictures, you will be impressed. We appreciate his support and sportsmanship as in all events we work on.

I was hoping you would do a blog post about this. I heard SUCH GREAT THINGS about that evening. How wonderful to have a modest prom night. Love it! Thanks for the link to the pictures. I enjoyed looking through them all and saw a few familiar looking faces. :)
